SFMC Voting19 September 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – Now on its fifth year, the annual Short Filmmaking Contest of the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region X focuses on the First 1000 Days in relation to the 2021 July Nutrition Month campaign themed, Malnutrisyon patuloy na labanan, First 1000 days tutukan!” This contest is done with NNC X’s media group, the Media Advocates for Nutrition in Governance for Region 10 or MANGO Diez.

The First 1000 Days Short Filmmaking Contest: Level-up! aims to increase awareness of the importance of optimum nutrition during the First 1000 Days of life. This year, the contest will be “leveled up” by engaging mothers and including their testimonies in their First 1000 Days journey. The contest further intends to create interest and discover creativity among high school students to promote and mobilize actions for the First 1000 Days. It is open to all public and private junior and senior high schools in Region 10.

The Department of Education Region 10 supports this annual campaign by releasing Memorandum No. 342, series of 2021, dated 2 July 2021, inviting high school students to join the contest.

The students were encouraged to observe minimum health standards (i.e. wearing of mask, physical distancing, frequent handwashing), and physical gathering was discouraged while doing the film production. Each entry will be judged based on the following criteria: 1) Relevance to the theme – 40%; 2) Creativity and originality – 30%; 3) Technical quality – 30%; and 4) Social media engagement – 10%, with a total of 100%.

NNC X received a total of 13 entries for this year’s contest since its announcement last 1 July 2021.
