20 September 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – In an effort to establish sub-national networks for the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement in Northern Mindanao, the National Nutrition Council Regional Office X led the organization of the said movement.

There are seventeen (17) SUN Networks from the Business Sector, Civil Society Organizations, and the Academe who pledged their commitment for the SUN Movement initiative last 7 September 2021 during the virtual Northern Mindanao SUN Movement 3.0 Orientation.

The SUN Business Network is composed of Best Friend Goodies, Food Processors Association of Northern Mindanao, Gaisano Mall Northern Mindanao Branches, Artemis Salt Corporation, Arvin International Marketing, Inc., Salinas Foods, Inc., SLERS Industries, Inc., and Bite Me Up CDO Food Corporation.

The SUN Civil Society Organizations Network on the other hand is joined by Rotary Club of Carmen Valley, Rotaract Carmen Valley, JCI Bai Lawanen, Modern Nanays of Mindanao, and Nutritionists-Dietitians Association of the Philippines Misamis Oriental Chapter.

While the SUN Academe Network includes Central Mindanao University, Adventist Medical Center College, Lourdes College and Barangay Integrated Development Approach for Nutrition Improvement.

With the organization of the SUN Movement here in the region, NNC 10 envisions that nutrition actions will be intensified and will achieve results and synergy in terms of priorities for action, and greater accountability and collaboration. Further, with the support of our stakeholders, we can sustain nutrition and nutrition-related interventions, and continue to harmonize and streamline these efforts to achieve goals for nutrition in order to eventually contribute to the achievement of the goals of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition.

As we engage, inspire and invest in nutrition through our networks and this movement, we are assured that the SUN will rise and shine here in Northern Mindanao. (NO I Liezel Joy D. Reyes)
