2021 NCMThe National Children’s Month (NCM) is celebrated in the Philippines annually every November, in pursuant to Republic Act 10661. The celebration seeks to impart to every Filipino the significance of the promotion and the protection of the rights of every child. This year, the 29th National Children’s Month Celebration focuses on the children’s rights in the new normal, with the theme “New Normal na Walang Iwanan: Karapatan ng Bawat Bata Ating Tutukan”.

The commemoration will cover the vast issues on children’s rights to survival, development, protection, and participation in the new normal setting. The celebration also aims to ensure that no child will be left behind, regardless of the situation.

Since nutrition is a fundamental right of every child, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) shows its full support to the celebration every year, through the conduct and attendance to various activities in line with the celebration.

As NNC X’s support for the celebration this year, the regional office attended the NCM kick-off activity via Zoom last 3 November, which was facilitated by the Council for the Welfare of Children. Moreover, various materials regarding the celebration were posted in the NNC X’s official Facebook Page. Children’s rights messages and the theme of the celebration will also be featured and aired over the Nutriskwela community radio stations and articles with regard to the celebration will also be published in the NNC webpage.

The children are our future, they said, as cliché as it may sound the children are still the hope for the future; so despite the challenges brought by this global pandemic the regional office is committed to be active in various activities in order to ensure that children will still have better quality and improved way of life; well-nourished, have healthy lives and safe and free from violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
