29 November 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – The Nutrition Month Celebration with its theme: “Malnutrisyon patuloy na labanan, First 1000 Days tutukan!” enabled yet again another venue to gather more nutrition advocates through the contests: I-Flex mo si Nanay Photo Contest and First 1000 Days Short Filmmaking Contest: Level-up!
The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region X recognized and awarded the winners during the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony last 18 November 2021. The short filmmaking was done with NNC X’s media network, while the photo contest was in partnership with Oro Photographic Society (OPS) and JCI Bai Lawanen.
I-Flex mo si Nanay Photo Contest
The contest aimed to showcase and acknowledge the hard work of mothers in pursuing the First 1000 Days despite the pandemic. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd Placers and finalists in both mobile and conventional categories received a Plaque of Recognition and cash prize of ₱4,000.00, ₱3,000.00, ₱2,000.00, and ₱1,000.00 respectively.
Mobile Category
- 1st Placer: John Jovie Balolong with entry title “A Frontliners Unconditional Love”
- 2nd Placer: Christelyn Lomo with entry title “Malnutrisyon Patuloy na Labanan First 1000 Days Tutukan”
- 3rd Placer: Vic Danielle Magas with entry title “Morning Rise”
Finalist:
- John Paul Labasano with entry title “Flexing motherhood by promoting breastfeeding throughout the world”
- Ricky Jabien with entry title “TSEK AP”
Conventional Category
- 1st Placer: Fritz Duncan Alquilos with entry title “Mother's Happiness”
- 2nd Placer: Prince Loyd Besorio with entry title “Kay nanay nakasalalayang buhay”
Special Awards were given to the entry with highest social media engagement based on the total number of Facebook likes/reactions, comments and shares. In mobile category, the People’s Choice Award goes to Ms. Christelyn Lomo, and in conventional category, to Mr. Prince Loyd Besorio.
First 1000 Days Short Filmmaking Contest: Level-up!
The contest, now on its fifth year, aimed to increase awareness of the importance of optimum nutrition during the First 1000 Days of life, and to create interest and discover creativity among junior and senior high school students through promoting actions for the First 1000 Days in relation to the 2021 NM theme.

Recipients of Special Awards and finalists were awarded with Certificates of Recognition, with ₱2,000.00 consolation prize for the finalists. Winners for the 3rd, 2nd and 1st Placers were awarded with Plaques of Recognition and cash prize of ₱5,000.00, ₱10,000.00 and ₱15,000.00, respectively.
