Every year, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region X airs the radio program “10 Kumainments Nutrition School on-the-Air” or NSOA over select local radio station. It is composed of 12 sessions highlighting the 10 Kumainments, a popular version of the revised Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos which consists of shorter and simple messages for better recall and understanding.

For this year, the first episode aired last 25 April 2022. The schedule of airing is every Mondays and Wednesdays, from 25 April to 1 June 2022, at 3:00 – 3:30 PM and replays every Tuesdays and Thursdays on the same time. NNC X technical staff will serve as radio anchors for all of the 12 sessions of NSOA. Strong Radio 90.3 FM radio station will air the 12 sessions, with NNC Region X Facebook Page livestreaming each episode.

NNC X will continue its partnership with the Cagayan de Oro City Nutrition Office to identify mothers in partner barangays who will enroll in the program. Since it is a school-on-air, participants registered from 18-22 April 2022 through announcements over the radio, and posting of invitation at the NNC Region X Facebook Page.

NSOA is just like a setting in school where students will enroll, attend the class and will be recognized through a graduation ceremony. In NSOA, Graduation Ceremony will be held to recognize the participants who tuned in and actively participated in the short quizzes after each episode.

This is one of the strategies of NNC to educate and create an interactive environment with people as they are taught on proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle. (NO I Vazamija Therese A. Villasi)
