Revised Bukidnon NiE IM Training18 May 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – Members of the Bukidnon Provincial Nutrition Cluster (PNCl) completed the three-day Training on Nutrition in Emergencies (NIE) - Information Management (IM) facilitated by Bukidnon Provincial Health Office (PHO) together with the National Nutrition Council (NNC) X, held last 10-12 May 2022 at the Garden Party Venue and Suites, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

NNC X’s Nutrition Officers (NO) Sheena Marie G. Talle, Liezel Joy D. Reyes, and Vazamija Therese A. Villasi assisted the PHO/Provincial Nutrition Office personnel and District Nutrition Program Coordinators Ms. Rebecca Hibaya, Ms. Mitzi Espuerta, Ms. Venice Sumbalan, and Ms. Rona Talaman in the conduct of the training which was attended by 24 PNCl members. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Gary Guido C. Tabios, Jr. was also present during the training.

The participants were trained on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and the Cluster Approach; Introduction to NIE including the basic concepts in nutrition, importance of NIE, nutrition assessment, NIE interventions, and cross-cutting concerns as well as IM. Minimum Service Package was also discussed to the PNCl, and other guides to help them craft their DRRM-Health-NIE Plan.

All members of the PNCl provided their inputs to the draft DRRM-H-NIE Plan following the suggested activities under the four thematic areas: disaster prevention and mitigation, disaster preparedness, disaster response, and disaster recovery and rehabilitation.

Following the suggestions from the members and the facilitators, the PNCl will convene again in June to polish their draft plan for integration in the PDRRM Plan 2023-2025. Other mobilization and coordination measures will also be undertaken by the PNCl members to revitalize the cluster. (NO III Sheena Marie G. Talle/NO I Liezel Joy D. Reyes)
