29 November 2014. Iligan City now has a City Nutrition Office situated at the ABC Hall, Barangay Pala-o.  The setting up of a separate nutrition office is a quick response from Mayor Celso G. Regencia, Chairperson of the City Nutrition Committee, after a brief meeting with NPC Marissa DM. Navales last October 7. 

During the meeting, NPC Navales shared with Mayor Regencia, a newly elected Mayor, the 2011-2013 OPT results and ranking of Iligan City as well as some issues and concerns on the nutrition program management of the City.  Aside from setting up a separate nutrition office, Mayor Regencia also instructed the City Nutrition Office to fast-track the formulation of the City Nutrition Action Plan to ensure that nutrition will be included in the City’s priority programs. The Mayor also committed to hire or designate City Nutrition Program Coordinators to add to their pool of frontline nutrition workers.

The setting up of the City Nutrition Office was supported by Iligan City’s ABC President Cesarbe Siacor. The City nutrition staff extended their appreciation to NNC X’s support and technical assistance to strengthen nutrition program management in Iligan City. According to them, the directives of the Mayor resulting from NNC X’s technical assistance will surely contribute to the enhancement of their nutrition services. srdc
