rev 2022 NM FB CoverEvery July, the campaign on Nutrition Month is held to raise Filipinos' knowledge of the value of nutrition and the provisions of Presidential Decree (PD) 491, or the Nutrition Act of the Philippines. The National Nutrition Council (NNC) is required by the said PD to lead and organize the national campaign.

This year’s Nutrition Month theme, "New normal na nutrisyon, sama-samang gawan ng solusyon!" calls for strengthened nutrition interventions and solidarity towards nutrition improvement as the country shifts towards living with the COVID-19 virus.

The campaign calls for a collective effort to improve nutrition as we move forward to a better new normal. The campaign aims to: 1) raise the awareness of the importance of nutrition in building resilience and recovery from the pandemic; 2) stimulate discussions among stakeholders on how to build back better the design, delivery, and scale-up of nutrition interventions; and 3) engage various sectors and the public in activities that promote nutrition.

In observance of this celebration, the National Nutrition Council Region X plans the conduct of the following NM activities:

  • Launching of NM in partnership with Cagayan de Oro City, to be highlighted by a motorcade and unveiling of the 2022 NM tarpaulin; NNC X and the local government unit’s nutrition networks will grace the event
  • Publication of NM advertorial
  • Integration of NM Theme in the 44th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week
  • Integration of NM Theme in 4Ps’ Family Development Sessions (Online Platform via Zoom and Facebook Live)
  • Development and reproduction of NM Collaterals
  • Airing of NM plugs
  • Airing of NM Television Infomercial
  • Nutrition Month Virtual Culmination

The contests initiated by NNC X that are related to NM 2022 theme are: 1) Build Back Better: Nutrigraphic Making Contest which is open to all LGUs (Provinces, Cities, Municipalities) in Region 10. The contest aims to create infographics promoting the LGUs’ nutrition program/project/activities (PPAs) in the new normal; 2) BNS: BIDA sa Nutrisyon Photo Collage Making Contest is open to all Barangay Nutrition Scholars of Region 10. The contest aims to showcase the Barangay Nutrition Scholars’ (BNS) efforts and dedication in delivery nutrition service in the new normal. Lastly, the Contest on Short Filmmaking 6.0: Nutrition in the New Normal is open to all junior and senior high school students regionwide.

NNC X will continue to ramp up its social media campaign by posting of the statements of support from various agencies and LGUs, to impart nutrition messages on nutrition in the new normal targeting all age groups especially the vulnerable groups. The following are: 1) RNCs’ and SUN Networks’ statements of support to scale-up nutrition in the new normal (video recording); 2) Nutrition Month on Reels; and 3) Nutri-Turo sa New Normal.

The Nutrition Month campaign is a collective effort to promote good nutrition and disseminate information moving to the new normal. Everyone is invited to participate the campaign to realize NNC’s battle cry, Nutrisyon sapat para sa Lahat! (NO I Vazamija Therese A. Villasi, RND)
