The TOT equipped nutrition workers from the above-mentioned LGUs with competencies relevant to the delivery of services particularly for the First 1000 Days.
The First 1000 days refers to the period from conception to a child’s first two years of life. This period is considered as the “golden window of opportunity” for the child to achieve his or her full potential in the different aspects of development. It is a crucial time in which key health, nutrition, early education and related services should be delivered to ensure the optimum physical and mental development of a child.
The training used a variety of methods to facilitate learning which included lecture discussions, video presentation, demonstrations, and group activities. By the end of the training the participants formulated their re-entry plans per LGU as basis for further roll-out plans in their areas.
The participating LGUs committed to re-echo the training to other nutrition and health workers to further improve and enhance the knowledge and practices of mothers and caregivers on nutrition and Early Childhood Care and Development services in the First 1000 Days.
