8 August 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez of the National Nutrition Council (NNC) X pitched to re-elected Municipal Mayors, and newly-minted/comebacking Governors and City Mayors of Northern Mindanao the 3Ns as their guide to navigating the nutrition program. This happened during the Regional Newly-Elected Officials (NEO) Orientation Course last 3 August 2022 at Limketkai Luxe Hotel, this city, organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government X.
NPC Fernandez emphasized that NNC’s call for 3Ns means: Nutrition Committee, Nutrition Office, and Nutrition Action Plan.
A three-year Local Nutrition Action Plan (LNAP) must be formulated, implemented, and monitored and evaluated by a functional Local Nutrition Committee (LNC) led by the LCE. The diversity of nutrition programs in the LNAP ranges from nutrition-specific, nutrition-sensitive and enabling programs. Therefore, a Nutrition Office with full staff complement is needed to ensure ample attention and coordination for each program. Lastly, NPC Fernandez provided a fourth N, which is the NNC, willing to assist the local government units.
Further introduced to the LCEs are the framework the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN), and the coordinating structure for nutrition, with emphasis of the Nutrition Committees at the local level.
Aside from NNC X, other regional line agencies were also invited to present their program frameworks to rally support from the re-elected LCEs. (Nutrition Officer III Sheena Marie G. Talle / This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. / 09631091098)
