Article Joint Assoc Meeting S224 October 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region X facilitated the joint meeting of the Nutrition Action Officers Association of the Philippines (NAOPA), Inc. Northern Mindanao Chapter, District City Nutrition Program Coordinators Association of the Philippines (DCNPCAP), Region X Inc. and the National Barangay Nutrition Scholars (NaBNS) Federation, Inc. Northern Mindanao Chapter. The meeting was held last 14 October 2022 at Chali Resort and Conference Center, Cagayan de Oro City.

The morning session was dedicated for the plenary updates, while the afternoon portion was for the breakout meeting per association.

In her opening message, Nutrition Program Coordinator Fernandez thanked the nutrition workers for their attendance to the event, and for their commitment and dedication to implement and coordinate nutrition programs at the local level. NPC Fernandez also gave initial updates on nutrition program developments.

The first update presented was the partial results of the 2022 Operation Timbang Plus, presented by Ms. Arlie Joy O. Damiles, Development Management Officer II. Highlighted in her report are the regional, provincial and city prevalence rates for 2022, as well as the ranking of municipalities in the four indicators.

Ms. Sheena Marie G. Talle, Nutrition Officer III, presented the results of the regional evaluation for the Search for Outstanding Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFPs). She acknowledged the local government units (LGU) and LNFPs who braved the evaluation activity. Included in her presentation is the regional outstanding LNFPs in their respective categories.

A follow-up also was done by DMO II Damiles for the LGUs’ submission of 2nd semester nutrition reports as part of the monitoring of nutrition databases.

Further, NNC X through Ms. Vazamija Therese A. Villasi, Project Development Officer I shared the updates on the upcoming 7th Regional BNS Conference, the first face-to-face conference of the BNSs since the pandemic. PDO I Villasi urged the LGUs to maximize the participation of BNSs in the conference and in the line-up of contests.

NPC Fernandez presented the remaining activities of the NNC X for CY 2022 and further invited the LNFPs to join the activities applicable.

NNC X further invited food technology adaptors of the Department of Science and Technology – Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI), namely the Ozamiz Complementary Food Processing Facility, University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Northern Mindanao Food Innovation Center (NMFIC) and Best Friend Goodies. The products presented in their respective facilities are potential commodities that the LGUs can use in their dietary supplementation activities.
