EPAHP Caravan infographicThe Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Regional Program Monitoring Office (RPMO) 10 together with the Department of Agriculture (DA) hosted the first-ever EPAHP Caravan celebration, which has the complete support of all the partner agencies in Region 10.

The overall committee chair of the Caravan was EPAHP RPMO 10. Stakeholders assigned tasks as specified per committee. Members of the invitation and RSVP committee are DILG, CDA, LBP, NAPC, and DBM. Members of the venue coordination, decoration, and food committee are DAR, PCA, NFA, and PCIC. The program committee is comprised of DepEd, DOH, NDA, PCC, and NNC. The documentation committee is composed of DOST, DTI, POPCOM, BFAR, and TESDA. The ICT and logistics committee consists of DICT, DSWD, NIA, ATI, and BJMP. The celebration was in collaboration of DA’s World Food Day Celebration which was also held in their compound specifically at NACIDA Bldg., Corrales Ave. cor. Antonio Luna St. Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental. Present in the event are the focal persons of partner agencies in the entire Region 10.

The idea behind the Caravan celebration is to value and honor the work of our local farmers particularly in food production. All over the country, issues with hunger, poverty, and malnutrition still exist. Addressing these issues can be done by collaborating closely with other organizations and institutions and investing in the things that are most important, such as food production and employment opportunities.

Displays of goods and products from farmers, associations, and cooperatives are the caravan's highlights. Additionally, as part of the celebration, workshops, trainings, and demonstrations are offered. Here are a handful of the trainings and free workshops that were held.

  • Demonstration of Value-Adding Technology (Boneless Bangus Production & Tilapia Fish Ball) by Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)
  • Packaging and Labelling, GMP and Food Safety Awareness Seminar by Department of Science and Technology (DOST) X
  • Skills Demonstration by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)
  • Dairy Processing Demo for Pasteurized Milk and Cheese by National Dairy Authority (NDA)
  • Demonstration on Meat/Vegetable Processing Value by Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI)

The two-day event was attended and joined by enthusiastic individuals looking to learn and assist our local farmers. Regional Directors from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Ramel F. Jamen and Department of Agriculture (DA) RD Carlene C. Collado, CPA, were present during the Caravan.
