12 November 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region X successfully conducted a face-to-face Training on Nutriskwela Community Radio Broadcasting for the two Nutriskwela stations in Region 10. Radyo Kalambuan DXNE 94.3 FM in Tubod, Lanao del Norte, and Radyo Kalilang DXNN 104.9 FM in Kalilangan, Bukidnon were trained last 25-28 October 2022 at Media Center, Mindanao Civic Center, Tubod, Lanao del Norte and via Zoom.
There was a total of thirteen (13) attendees, including new radio station staff and selected members of community radio councils.
Due to changes in local leadership, retirement or reassignment, and other reasons, this training was held to orient the station management on community radio operations and nutrition to operate the stations effectively and to serve its objective of promoting nutrition. It will also ensure compliance with rules and regulations governing radio broadcasting.
The NNC X invited Ms. Mackay V. Quadra, communication-media consultant from MQ Media Zone Productions, Station Manager (SM) Ardizon T. Arsua of Strong Radio 90.3 FM and a member of Media Advocates for Nutrition in GOvernance in Region X, Ms. Claire Gigje, Information Officer I and Ms. Lou Ellen, Information Center Manager of the Philippine Information Agency X as well as Engr. Vixter A. Abaday - Radio Regulation Inspector of National Telecommunication Commission 10 to serve as Resource Speakers during the 4-day training.
Training topics were understanding Community Radio and Nutriskwela radio program, community radio production and operations, community radio production and hands-on training.
Participants had the opportunity for hands-on operations of the radio station including the Broadcast Equipment Operations and Maintenance and the Basic Troubleshooting and Signal Mapping which Radio Technician Bon Jovi Dela Cruz of Radyo Kalambuan DXNE 94.3 FM facilitated.
Towards the end of the four-day workshop, SM Ryan Anthony T. Cawaing of Radyo Kalilangan and SM Elena Pelare of Radyo Kalambuan shared their impressions on the activity, while Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez of NNC X, closed the program.
With the competing environment of the commercial radio, community radio such as Nutriskwela Community Radio Program stands for disseminating correct, current and relevant nutrition and health information, as well as educational and developmental information from all concerned sectors of the community, government agencies and non-government agencies.
