23 December 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – One of the momentous highlights during the 2022 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (RNAC) held last December 2022 is the recognition of nutrition partners who contributed to and influenced the management of nutrition programs in the region.
The 2022 RNAC makes history as four (4) external partners of the select local government units (LGUs) in Northern Mindanao were given a Special Award for their inventive, sustainable, and exemplary nutrition innovations. Below are the awarded partners endorsed by their respective local nutrition committees (LNCs):

In identifying the awardees, NNC X considered the following criteria based on the World Health Organization’s definition of “Best Practices”:
- Efficiency and effectiveness. It must work and achieve results that are measurable and must produce results using a sufficient level of resources and time. The initiative displays outstanding work and effort to promote nutrition and nutrition programs.
- Relevance. The practice addresses the priority nutrition and health problems in the community.
- Innovativeness. The initiative demonstrates novel, creative and unique strategies.
- Sustainability. The initiative must be implementable over a long period of time without any substantial addition of other resources.
- Potential for replication. It must be replicable to other areas (i.e. barangays, municipalities, cities, or provinces).
- Community involvement. The practice involves the participation of the affected communities.
Aside from the external partners, retired nutrition mentors were recognized for their significant contribution to the improvement of nutrition management performance among LGUs in Region 10. The awardees are:
- Jesus D. Dumangon - Former Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) of Kadingilan, Bukidnon
- Eva T. Pacturan of Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Office (RFO) 10 – Former Chairperson and Member of the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET).
NNC asserts that multi-sectoral and interdisciplinary interventions are required to address the multi-faceted and multi-dimensional problem of malnutrition. The linkage with partner stakeholders within and outside the LNCs as one of the key players to strengthen the implementation of the nutrition program.
