Article NAOs Conference23 December 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The Nutrition Action Officers (NAO) of Northern Mindanao convened during the 2022 Region 10’s NAOs Conference held last 7 December 2022 at Chali Resort and Conference Center, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City. The conference was conducted to provide updates on major nutrition concerns, as well as matters regarding the regional NAOs association and its constituents.

As the new President of the Nutrition Action Officers Association of the Philippines (NAOPA), Inc. Northern Mindanao Chapter, City Nutrition Action Officer Hazel P. Dondonayos in her Opening Message urged her fellow NAOs to capacitate their local officials and local nutrition committee members. Further, CNAO Dondonayos encouraged the participants to be involved in scaling up nutrition and facilitate compliance to the new Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN).

The first technical session of the conference which was on the PPAN 2023-2028, was discussed by Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez. The new priorities and thrusts of the PPAN were discussed, along with new targets and indicators.

For the second presentation, CNAO Nenita F. Rabe of Cagayan de Oro City shared an empowering message in the topic “Level Up NAO!: Sharing of 2019 National Outstanding CNAO’s Best Practices”. CNAO Rabe was the first ever awardee of the National Outstanding CNAO title. In her presentation, CNAO Rabe emphasized the importance of investing in manpower, including her staff and the workforce in the barangay level, as well as maintaining harmonious and functional working relationships with networks.

The second part of the conference is the NAOPA, Inc. NM Chapter Business meeting, anchored by the regional officers, CNAO Dondonayos and Board Member/former President CNAO Elmer S. Risonar of Gingoog City. CNAO Risonar presented the accomplishments of the officers of the previous term, which includes the resolutions passed and the activities conducted by the chapter. CNAO Dondonayos continued the President’s Report by sharing the 2023 NAOs Work Plan. Lastly, CNAO Clapano presented the current financial status of the association.
