2nd draft TK DSP wet feeding3 April 2021, Cagayan de Oro City — The National Nutrition Council Region 10 (NNC X) through Provincial Nutrition Coordinator (PNC) Stephanie C. Barrio met with the representatives of the Department of Agrarian Reform Provincial Office (DARPO) Bukidnon and partner Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organization (ARBO) representatives. This is in preparation for the upcoming implementation of the wet feeding scheme of the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK DSP) for pregnant women in the eight (8) recipient Local Government Units (LGUs) of Bukidnon. 

The meeting was held last 29 March 2021 at the DARPO Conference Room, Airport Village, Casisang, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. Among the attendees were Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer (PARO) I Bernardita M. Lozaga, Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer (CARPO) Phoebe I. Noval, Agrarian Reform Program Officers (ARPOs) of the recipient LGUs, and representatives from the seven (7) partner ARBOs.

2 Courtesy Call

6 April 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – National Nutrition Council X Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez and staff paid a courtesy call to the new Regional Director of DOH Center for Health Development – Northern Mindanao, Dr. Jose R. Llacuna, Jr., MD, MPH, CESO III on 6 April 2021.

Present also during the meeting were Ms. Telesfora G. Madelo, ND IV and staff, Ms. Pamela E. Legaria of DOH CHD-NM.

NPC Fernandez presented the organizational structure of NNC X and enumerated the 2020 accomplishments under major output indicators, including the unplanned activities done. She also discussed the planned activities for 2021.

During the courtesy call, current issues on the nutrition programs were tackled. Dr. Llacuna concurred on the possible priorities and direction of the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) X under his leadership. He likewise committed to lead the RNC X and to provide assistance and insights to forward the agenda on nutrition.

Dr. Llacuna assumed post as the new head of the CHD-NM last 15 March 2021. Being the Regional Director of the CHD, Dr. Llacuna is consequently the Chairperson of the RNC X. (NO III Sheena Marie G. Talle)

2021 Joint Assoc Meeting 1st Semester28 March 2021, Cagayan de Oro City — The National Nutrition Council X virtually convened the officers of the regional associations of nutrition workers last 24 March 2021 for their regular updating and conduct of associations’ meeting.

30 officers from the Nutrition Action Officers Association of the Philippines (NAOPA) Inc., Northern Mindanao Chapter, District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators Association of the Philippines (DCNPCAP), Region X Inc. and the National Barangay Nutrition Scholars Federation (NaBNS Fed.) Inc., Northern Mindanao Chapter attended the virtual meeting.

NNC X Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez, in her Opening Message, thanked the local government units (LGUs) for their continuous implementation of nutrition programs, especially on the First 1000 Days.

Tutok Kainan DSP Meeting with LDN6 April 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council X convened select Lanao del Norte areas, representatives from the Provincial Health Office and DOH’s Nutritionist-Dietitians for the first ever coordination meeting regarding the proposed Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK DSP). This happened virtually last 30 March 2021, with a total of 16 participants attending.

There are seven (7) municipalities involved for the said program. These are: Kauswagan, Kolambugan, Linamon, Matungao, Nunungan, Sultan Naga Dimaporo and Tagoloan.

Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez discussed the rationale of the program, its background, and priority groups. Moreover, NPC Fernandez presented the target implementation areas, initial program considerations, proposed TK components, and support expected from the local government units. For the TK DSP in Lanao del Norte, children 6-23 months old will be given food commodities for 180 days.

7 Radyo Kalambuan30 March 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council Region X monitored one of the region’s Nutriskwela Community Radio Stations, Radyo Kalambuan DXNE 94.3 MHz held at the radio station at Mindanao Civic Center, Tubod, Lanao del Norte. Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez and Nutrition Officer I Vazamija Therese A. Villasi facilitated the monitoring last 15 March 2021.

Present during the monitoring were Program Director Raul D. Dinapo, Marketing Staff Ryan B. Requino and July Gapol.

On top of the existing equipment, the station is currently using new equipment procured by the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte: three (3) new headphones, one (1) Arrakis console and one (1) set of livestreaming tools. Generator-set was also purchased to supply the station’s electricity in case of power interruptions.

Aside from the regular programs aired over the station (One Nutrition, One Nation, Katumbas ay Biyaya, Nutrition School-on-the Air, nutrition and health plugs, among others), Radyo Kalambuan aired learning modules from the Department of Education Region 10. The station and DepEd Region 10 engaged in a Memorandum of Agreement for this endeavor to widen the reach of the learning modules, which benefitted grade school and high school students. Radyo Kalambuan aired the said modules from October 2020 to March 2021.

2ND Draft TK TA30 March 2021, Cagayan de Oro City — The eight (8) identified recipient Local Government Units (LGUs) of Bukidnon are now in action for the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK DSP) for pregnant women. The program commenced last 8 March 2021, covering 3,382 pregnant women beneficiaries who will be given food commodities for 90 days.

The National Nutrition Council Region 10 (NNC X) through Provincial Nutrition Coordinator (PNC) Stephanie C. Barrio conducted TK DSP monitoring and technical assistance (TA) last 15-19 and 23 March 2021. This was participated by the Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs), City and Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators (C/MNPCs), and nutrition staff of the eight (8) recipient LGUs. The activity was done to check the program’s implementation and solicit feedbacks, gaps, and challenges from the focal persons in both the LGU and barangay levels and beneficiaries.
