rev DOH CHD NM Turnover Ceremony225 March 2021, Cagayan de Oro City — Outgoing OIC-Regional Director Adriano P. Suba-an, MD, CESO IV endorsed to Director IV Jose R. Llacuna, Jr., MD, MPH, CESO III the Key of Responsibility as the Regional Director of the Department of Health Center for Health Development – Northern Mindanao (DOH CHD-NM). This was held during the Turnover Ceremony on 22 March 2021 at Pearlmont Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

Around 30 participants witnessed the turnover ceremony, including the CHD-NM management and staff, Provincial Development Management Officers, Chiefs of the DOH-retained hospitals, heads of the attached agencies and other stakeholders. NNC X through Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez and Nutrition Officer Sheena Marie G. Talle attended the ceremony.

During his inspirational talk, Dr. Suba-an endorsed the accomplishments, ongoing efforts and all the existing resources of CHD-NM.

As a response, the new Regional Director positively accepted the challenge of leading the CHD and the health system in Northern Mindanao. Dr. Llacuna likewise called for support from the stakeholders as he assumes his new post.

Dr. Llacuna, a Camiguin native, was the Assistant Regional Director of the CHD-NM in 2008. He served as Regional Director of DOH Caraga since 2016 before he was reassigned to Northern Mindanao.

As the new Regional Director of DOH CHD-NM, consequently, Dr. Llacuna is also the new Regional Nutrition Committee Chairperson, leading the actions for nutrition improvement in the regional level. (NO III Sheena Marie G. Talle)

MF Human Milk Hub MOA Signing and Turnover19 March 2021, Cagayan de Oro City — In a MOA signing and turnover ceremony held 18 March 2021, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon received equipment and auxiliary items for its upcoming Human Milk Hub.

LGU Manolo Fortich partnered with Cagayan de Oro City Executive Lions Club, which provided the equipment, for this endeavor. Mayor Clive D. Quiño and President Alain Pacatan of CDO Executive Lions Club engaged in a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

The activity was witnessed by Councilor Christy Leparto-Salabe, District Governor Jocelyn Tan Malack-Tan of Lions Club International, CDO Executive Lions Club members, Modern Nanays of Mindanao, National Nutrition Council X and Municipal Nutrition Office staff.

The partner humanitarian organization turned over two (2) upright freezers, one (1) sterilizer, two (2) sealers, two (2) cabinets, and auxiliary items such as breastmilk storage bags, breast pumps, hair net, lab gown and even ferrous fumarate. A pasteurizer will also be provided, which is still in transit from Manila as of this writing.

TK implementation15 March 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – It’s official! Implementation of the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK DSP) for pregnant women in Bukidnon began last 8 March 2021. The program was activated in all barangays of the eight (8) identified recipient local government units (LGUs) of Bukidnon, namely the cities of Malaybalay and Valencia, and municipalities of Kadingilan, Kibawe, Libona, Manolo Fortich, Quezon, and Sumilao. TK DSP covers 3,382 pregnant women beneficiaries, with priority to those who are nutritionally at-risk.

Pregnant women enrolled under TK DSP will receive food commodities containing 400-700 kilocalories (kcal) with 15-20 grams of protein good for 90 days. For the first 30 days, beneficiaries will receive enhanced Nutribun (eNutribun) followed by iron-fortified rice and viand from days 31-60, and eNutribun with Lipid-based Nutrition Support-Small Quantity (LNS-SQ) for the remaining 30 days.

The first delivery of the eNutribun was done last 8 March 2021. Recipient LGUs received 13,528 pieces of eNutribun, which were promptly distributed to the recipient barangays, and finally to the pregnant women, covering the first four days of the program implementation.

2020 Q4 Annual Webby Awards18 March 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council X received a total of six (6) awards from the NNC 2020 4th Quarter Q-Webby and Annual Webby Awards 2020 held during the 1st Quarter Management Conference dated 17 March 2021.

The Q-Webby Awards is a quarterly recognition system of NNC Regional Offices’ (ROs) performance on social media engagement, based on critical performance indicators.

NNC X received the following 4th Quarter Webby Awards:

TK Launch14 March 2021, Cagayan de Oro City — To formally kick-off the program, the National Nutrition Council Region 10 (NNC X) facilitated the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK DSP) Bukidnon Province Ceremonial Launching. This was held last 10 March 2021 at the TESDA Center, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

Among the attendees were Acting Provincial Health Officer and Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PHO/PNAO) of Bukidnon Dr. Gary Guido Tabios Jr., Manolo Fortich Mayor Clive D. Quiño and Counselor Christy Leparto-Salabe, Mr. Reynante Roldan as representative of the Local Chief Executive of Kibawe, City and Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (NAO) Eza Canonigo (Malaybalay City), Geneses Espina (Kibawe), Dr. Grace Sicat (Libona), Christy Marie Alsado (Manolo Fortich), and Louina Trinidad Beñas (Sumilao), representatives from the enhanced nutribun and Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organization (ARBO) suppliers, Barangay Dicklum Kagawad on Health Pablo Jimenez and Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Rosalinda Equacion and select pregnant women beneficiaries from the same barangay.

In her welcome remarks, Nutrition Program Coordinator (NPC) Gladys Mae S. Fernandez expressed her thanks to the recipient Local Government Units (LGUs) for the continued support to the nutrition programs and for confirming their participation and commitment to the TK DSP. She further highlighted the importance of good nutrition during the first 1000 days, which is also called as the “golden window of opportunity” where most of the child’s growth and development are established.

captioned photo RBATF X 1st Sem Meeting16 March 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – The Regional Bantay Asin Task Force (RBATF) X convened its first semester virtual meeting last 11 March 2021. The task force tackled the updates on the RBATF X Strategic Plan 2019-2022, draft promotional video on iodized salt, conduct of the 2021 first semester salt monitoring and activities of Salinas Foods, Inc. for 2021.

National Nutrition Council X Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez presided the meeting on behalf of the Department of Health Center for Health Development – Northern Mindanao (DOH CHD-NM) OIC-Director IV and RBATF X Chairperson, Dr. Ellenietta HMV N. Gamolo. In attendance were 25 representatives from member agencies and local government units (LGUs).

The group first discussed the updates on the RBATF X Strategic Plan 2019-2022. NO II Arlie Joy O. Damiles highlighted the updated roles and functions of each member agency based on the new inputs from the members. Initial discussion and updating of the plan were conducted last 22 October 2020 during the second semester meeting of the task force. Before ending the discussion of the agendum, the body unanimously approved the updated strategic plan.
