Davao City - Last December 16, 2016, the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony was conducted by the National Nutrition Council XI headed by the good Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Dr. Maria Teresa L. Ungson. The awarding was attended by 142 participants from different LGUs, stakeholders, partners from NGAs, NGOs and academe. Also present was the BNS national president Ms. Jocelyn Lumaad and the newly elected NAOPA secretary Lynneth Demaisip. The following RNET’s was also present: Ms. Nemia Lumaino from DTI XI, Ms. Clemencia Fabia from Dep Ed XI and Sulbanon Quibo from NCMF XI who helped Dr. Ungson during the giving of awards and recognition.
This year’s ROBNS 2016 was awarded to BNS Daisy J. Bollifer, from Baragay Katipunan, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley Province among the 8 contenders within the region. With her during the award was Mr. Roldan Bollifer, her husband and Brgy. Captain Paz Maglangit. BNS Bollifer served her barangay from January 2, 2000 until present. The other BNS contenders were also recognized during the awarding ceremony and they received cash and certificates. Following the recognition of ROBNS was the recognition of the Green Banner awards of City-level and municipal level. A short AVP presentation was shown to highlight the Nutrition Programs of the two Green Banner Awardees.
This year, the Green Banner Award City-level recipient was given to Tagum City. Davao del Norte. It’s the second Green Banner Award of Tagum City for two consecutive years. The award was accepted by newly appointed CNAO Jan Dmitri Sator who is also a city councilor together with the City Nutrition Staff. Next, the Green Banner Award municipal level recipient was given to Asuncion, Davao del Norte and was accepted by MNAO Joel Andoy and Municipal Administrator Engr. Reynante S. Ayucan together with the members of the municipal nutrtion committee. The Kaugmaon Award and Pag-Asa Award was awarded to Mawab, Compostela Valley Province. The Municipality of Mawab was the Green Banner recipient last 2015. The award was accepted by MNAO Monique Bryan Gonzaga. The Municipality of Kapalong was ranked third and MNAO Edwin Ganiera accepted the award and certificate. This year’s Nutritizen’s Award was given to Gov. Jayvee L. Tyron Uy and was accepted by MNAO Gonzaga on his behalf.
The three awardee acceptors gave a short message in response to the award and recognition. Following the latter a short intermission number from the BNS Onse Federation entertained the crowd especially when BNS National President Joy Lumaad showed her antics and expertise in dancing. The awarding was ended by a short message from RNPC Dr. Ungson in which she thanked all of the participants for their continued support and their tremendous effort to improve the well-being of each individual focusing on the vulnerable groups within the region. She also encouraged each and every one to help each other in achieving the common goal of addressing hunger and malnutrition.
The Regional awarding Ceremony ended at exactly 2:00 p.m and was held at the Grand Men Seng Hotel.
