The first Health Summit of Compostela Valley province was held on February 27, 2018 at Tagum City,
Big 8 Corporate Hotel.
The conference confers about the Provincial Health Agenda of Gov. Jayvee Tyron Uy. Among topics discussed are the: provincial health situation and challenges, public health, hospital services, maternal, nutrition and HIV/AIDS.
Provincial Governor Jayvee Tyron L. Uy said he wants to improve the access of the people to the the health facilities through enchancing the availability of transportation especially in the province’s geographically isolated and disadvantaged area.
Hon. Vice gov. Manuel “Waykurat” Zamora also led the event and welcomed the participants. Dr.Abdullah Dumama Jr.-Asst. Secretary of Health for Mindanao delivered the key message to the delegates.
Other Important people who contributed their knowledge on the health forum are Dr. Antonio Ybiernas Jr. - PHO Department Head who talked about the public health; Dr. Ferdinand Anthony Soberano- Department Head of PEEMO shared about the hospital services.
Workshops had been conducted as well, which the group of Dr. Lady Jedfeliz Molleno represented by Ms. Joy Fairuz Dinalo- Cluster Head, Health facility Development Unit, DOH RO XI, Dr. Raquel Montejo- Head, Family Health Cluster, DOH RO XI educate about the service delivery network; regional coordinator, National Nutrition Council Dr. Ma. Teresa Ungson discussed the Provincial Nutrition Situation; City Health Officer of Tagum City Dr.Arnel Florendo reported the HIV/AIDS issue and Mr. Raymundo Pajarito-Assistant Provincial Planning Officer tackled the war on drugs and Dr. Raymundo Matalam-Program Manager of Mental Health, DOH region XI was the reactor of the workshop.
Dr.Ungson signed the pledge of Commitment with all other participants.
Mr. Arvin Ablin from department of Health- RO XI and Mr.Rauell Rhaj Santos of World Health Organization-SNI acted as the masters of ceremonies.
The Provincial Summit will be held annually to improve the health situation of the people of Compostela Valley Province.
