First aired and established last November 9, 2010, 97.3 Radyo Kalumonan is now stepping up in addressing malnutrition in San Isidro, Davao Oriental through relevant and comprehensive radio broadcasting, 18 hours a day. It was through the effort of NNC XI and its partners, LGU-San Isidro and Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology by upgrading its broadcast materials and output in line with the Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program’s goal in promulgating proper and good nutrition to the people of the Municipality.
A Three-Day Refresher Training was done last April 26, 27, and 28, 2018 participated by the personnel of 97.3 Radyo Kalumonan, delegates from the DOSCST San Isidro and Main Campus-Mati lead by Dr. Roy G. Ponce, Vice President for Research, Development & Extension of DOSCST, who shared about Home Farming & Container Gardening and representatives from all LGU Offices of San Isidro including the BFP, PNP, and AFP that were instructed by Mayor Yu to promote transparency and public service through broadcast media.
Dr. Maria Teresa L. Ungson, Nutrition Program Coordinator of the Region, discussed about Building Self-confidence: In Radio Broadcasting. This topic aimed to develop the interpersonal skills of the participants in doing board work, to conquer mic-fright and how to interact with listeners comprehensively. She also summarized the Philippine Plan of Action 2017 – 2022 and reported about Nutrition in Emergencies which also served as a guide for the LGU in determining their role during unexpected emergencies in the Municipality and how Radyo Kalumonan can be used during disasters.
NO II John Warry R. Fernandez of NNC XI reported about Media Ethics, Roles of Media and People, and facilitated the one-on-one hands-on training on radio broadcasting of the participants in order for them to familiarized themselves in the FM booth.
Station Policies, Political Policies, and an Overview of the Nutriskwela Community Network Program were presented to the participants by Ms. Katherine Villanueva, NO II from the NNC Central Office as almost all of the personnel were new in the station.
