Last February 27-28, 2020, the National Nutrition Council XI represented by NO II Fernandez conducted its 1st quarterly monitoring visit and technical assistance to the two nutriskwela community radio stations of Davao Region, 97.3 Radyo Kalumonan of San Isidro, Davao Oriental and 101.3 Radyo Kahimunan of Laak, Davao de Oro. This is to assess the current programming and to update the technical operations of the stations.
This year, both stations are upgrading their towers and programming. The Local Government Unit of Laak has budgeted for atleast P300, 000 for tower upgrade and studio sound proofing. While LGU of San Isidro has budgeted P 200, 000 for tower/antenna relocation. Radyo Kahimunan, compared to last year’s operation, had gathered a lot of accomplishments in this first quarter of the year in terms of using the broadcast in pushing the aim of the LGU-Laak in combatting malnutrition. The developmental programs of the station also helped the said municipality in gaining the public interest of the people especially that the AFP and PNP are religiously doing their board works. While in San Isidro, the Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology San Isidro Campus (DOSCST) is aiming to air their pilot School-on-the-air Program. Skwelahan sa Kahanginan on the 1st quarter of the year with the help of the LGU-San Isidro in utilizing Radyo Kahimunan on community outreach.
As the 5th Nutriskwela Community Awards is fast approaching, both stations are busy in preparing their entries for the said event. They are both excited to join and hopefully win a certain category. MTLU/JWRF
