In celebration of the 23rd year of Indigenous People’s Rights Act (IPRA), the National Commission of Indigenous People (NCIP)-Davao de Oro Provincial Office initiated series of activities in Panangan in the Municipality of Maco, Davao de Oro.
The highlight of the celebration is the Turnover Ceremony of the Integrated Ancestral Domain Development Approach – Culturally Responsive Economic Program Project (IADDA-CREP) to the Mansaka beneficiaries of the locality. IADDA-CREP is a capacitating and agricultural technology transfer activity by the Agricultural Training Institute Region XI (ATI-Region XI) in partnership with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples Region XI (NCIP XI). The project is composed of capacity building activity that included simultaneous trainings in Sustainable Production and High-value crops, Livestock Management and Organic Plant Production and Concoction (FAITH) which was conducted by the ATI, in collaboration with PAGRO Davao de Oro. The trainings were aimed at strengthening the capacity of the beneficiaries with correct and appropriate agriculture knowledge and skills to empower them in the management of the vast hectares of land that was granted to them under the project.
The turnover ceremony was witnessed by the Municipal Mayor of Maco Honorable Alvera Veronica R. Rimando, NCIP Regional Director Atty. Geroncio R. Aguio, NCIP Regional TMSD Chief Shirley B. Iguinon, Provincial Officer Julius L. Mabini, SP IPMR Matikadong Albert P. Camana.
Representatives of various partner government agencies and the PLGU were also in attendance. IPS Maco headed by Matikadong Rolando Casigluman, ADMO Matikadong Alfonso Tanting, Municipal IP desk Gibobayan Teresita Marcial, BLGU, BTCEL and the IPO of Barangay Panangan were also present to witness the occassion.
The IADDA-CREP was awarded to the Panarapagan ng Panangan (PAPANA) and was handed the full responsibility to make the project productive and sustainable.
