image tribal hall turn over articleDSWD XI Kalahi-CIDSS officially turned over on Thursday, October 29, a newly-built Tog'gan Center to the Tribal Leaders and Barangay Officials of Barangay El Salvador, New Corella, Davao del Norte.

Present during the turnover ceremony were New Corella Municipal Mayor Jorjan B. Federiso, Vice Mayor Pedro Lagumbay, and representatives from the Sangguniang Barangay of El Salvador and DSWD Field Office XI. The new Tog'gan Center, or Tribal Hall, is intended to be used by the leaders and members of the Mangguangan Tribe residing in the said barangay.

This sub-project was made possible under the Kalahi-CIDSS: PAMANA IP-CDD program which aims to deliver basic services to IP communities through supporting the implementation of the Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP) as well as strengthen the partnership of local governance institutions and the Indigenous Political Structures (IPS) and build communities’ resilience to conflict.

The Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI – CIDSS) is one of the three core social protection programs of the DSWD that uses and promotes the Community Driven Development (CDD) approach to empower the citizens of local communities to actively and directly participate in local governance of identifying their needs, planning, implementing and monitoring of projects together to address local poverty issues.
