DAVAO CITY- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 11 launched on Thursday, November 19, its P3-million worth livelihood project to boost productivity and sustainability in former NPA (New People’s Army) rebel-infested areas of Davao Oriental.
The project dubbed ‘Eggsoon sa Kalinaw’ aims to strengthen convergence for peace of program partners in the province to include the provincial government, line agencies, private sector and the military to capacitate and assist three people’s organizations (POs).
The ‘Eggsoon sa Kalinaw’ is an egg production project utilizing layers that will be owned by the three identified people’s organizations who received P1- million each from DOLE11 in a turnover ceremony on Thursday.
These POs include 5M Farmers, Motors and Women Association in Caatiha, Boston; Malipayon Former Rebels Organization in Martin Marundan, Mati City; and the Indigenous People’s Youth Sigang Organization in Maragatas, Lupon, Davao Oriental.
701st Infantry Brigade Commander Colonel Krishnamurti Mortela said the project will help generate additional food and income to the members of the people’s organizations and their families.
“The 701st Brigade will assist the organization development, registration and capacity building of said organizations which are located in former conflict-affected areas and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas that are now the focus and priority for intervention and convergence assistance by Task Force ELCAC-Davao Oriental“ Mortela said.
