DAVAO CITY, February 04 – The Regional Bantay ASIN Task Force of Davao Region mobilized its members through a virtual meeting to formalize its organization with the review and approval of two draft policies: RNC Resolution No. 1 Series of 2021 Organizing the Regional Bantay ASIN Task Force (RBATF) and RBATF Resolution No. 1 Series of 2021 Resolution Enjoining All LGUs of Davao Region to organize a Local Bantay ASIN Task Force.
The virtual meeting was attended by representatives from Davao Regional offices of NEDA, DILG, DOLE, DepEd, DOST, DSWD, DTI, NCIP, POPCOM, National Commission of Muslim Filipinos (NCMF), Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and the University of Immaculate Concepcion.
Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Ma. Teresa L. Ungson presented the Role of agencies concerned in the Salt Iodization Program per Rule VI of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 8172 to guide the members in their discussion and review of the said policies. She underscored the importance of the Department of Health as the lead agency in the implementation of the Salt Iodization Program.
OIC-Nutrition Officer III Alona Estanilla Teo presented the draft Resolutions for comments and approval of the group. Some of the members suggested that key groups and entities should be included as members of the task force such as the market and academe sectors of Davao region. After a brief clarification on some provisions of the policy, the group finalized the contents of the two draft policies.
The 2 draft policies will be presented in the next meeting of the Regional Nutrition Committee for their final comments and approval. Once these policies are approved these will be disseminated by NNC-Davao to all LGUs, partner agencies and other stakeholders for guidance and appropriate action.
