06 January 2023, Davao City- The National Nutrition Council Davao Region conducts annual awarding ceremonies to recognize the exemplary efforts of local government units as well as the performance of nutrition focal points (NAOs, DCMNCPs, BNSs) in the nutrition program implementation. This year, almost 200 representatives from LGUs and partner agencies all over the region attended the ceremony held at Apo View Hotel, Davao City. The event was graced with the presence of National Nutrition Council Executive Director herself- Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang, MCH, CESO III as a Keynote Speaker. 

The top performing Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFPs) of this year were identified thru the results of Monitoring of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro tool based on their CY 2021 performance:

• Alfredo A. Lacerona- 2021 Region XI Outstanding Provincial Nutrition Action Officer
• Joel M. Andoy, LPT- 2021 Region XI Outstanding Municipal Nutrition Action Officer
• Mayflor P. Espiritu, RND- 2021 Region XI Outstanding District Nutrition Program Coordinator
• Ma. Susan B. Gantuangco- 2021 Region XI Outstanding City Nutrition Program Coordinator
• Mary Joy J. Gadian- 2021 Region XI Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar

“This award is not possible if it weren’t for the support of our local chief executive and hardworking staff. This is our victory!” Dr. Gantuangco, hailed as Outstanding City Nutrition Program Coordinator, said during her response speech.

The regional outstanding nutrition focal points also qualified as Finalists for their respective categories at the National-level Search for Outstanding Nutrition Focal Points.

• Amor M. Cabanas- Asuncion, Davao del Norte
• Lovella M. Fontanilla- Panabo City, Davao del Norte

Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar Contender

• Gladys T. Abella - Barangay New Pandan, Panabo City
• Jovelyn Pariscal - Barangay Baguio Proper, Davao City
• Marlyn F. Alvarico – Barangay Toril, Island Garden City of Samal
• Corazon L. Baliquig- Barangay Panoraon, Municipality of Maco
• Salvy A. Alagos- Barangay New Bantayan, Municipality of Asuncion

Meanwhile, the LGUs of Maco, Davao de Oro with an overall rating of 93.9% and Davao del Norte, with an overall rating of 88.7% were the recipients of the 2021 Green Banner Seal of Compliance.

• Nutritizen Award - Mayor Arthur Carlos Voltaire Rimando of Maco, Davao de Oro
