SOCCSKSARGEN’s Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team is all set for the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation or MELLPI and the Search for Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) in the region which had already started last 06 April 2016.
The evaluation team is composed of focal persons coming from different government agencies such as DSWD (as the Chair), DOH, DA, DepEd, NEDA, PopCom, DILG, Save the Children and NNC XII.
MELLPI aims to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of local governments in planning and implementing local nutrition programs as part of NNC’s mandate as stated in the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN). The nutrition evaluators will also measure changes in weight status of preschool and school children during the evaluation year (2016) and the immediate past two years and validate thru weighing comprising at least 10% of the total Preschool population of the randomly selected barangays.

In conjunction with the MELLPI, the NNC also evaluates the performance and accomplishments of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) based on the prescribed evaluation tool and guidelines. Aside from the interview and desk review, a written examination will also be done. The BNSs are the barangay-based volunteers tasked to coordinate the delivery of basic nutrition and related services in their respective area of assignments.
