ROBNS 2016

Medy T. Repollo, 51 years old, a Barangay Nutrition Scholar from Brgy. Sudapin, Kidapawan City was adjudged as the 2016 Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS) of Region XII. She is also set to receive her award in the upcoming Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony this November 28, 2017. With a regional rating of 93.87%, Ms. Repollo was qualified as a finalist to the 2016 Search for National Outstanding BNS.

Last October 19-20, 2017, the National Evaluation Team (NET) visited Kidapawan City to conduct the evaluation of SOCCSKSARGEN ROBNS to validate her performance in the delivery of basic nutrition-related services in her barangay.

The NET was led by Assistant Secretary of Health and NNC Executive Director, Maria-Bernardita T. Flores, CESO II together with Ms. Ellen Ruth F. Abella, NO IV of NNC, Dr. Celna Mae Tejare of ACF and Ms. Dorothy Detabali of NEDA.

Ms. Repollo serves as BNS of Kidapawan City for 13 years since 2004 and is pushing through innovative programs such as rug and pot making, and proper waste disposal project. In an interview, she encourages the community, particularly the mothers of those malnourish children to take advantage of the proper waste disposal as an income generating project out from the recyclable materials. She also elucidated that 10% of the profit of her innovative programs will go to the additional budget for the supplementary feeding of the underweight and severely underweight children in their barangay.

Apart from being so much honored to be included in the National finalists, Ms. Repollo also expressed that she was extremely grateful for the solid support of their Barangay Nutrition Committee which motivated her to do more and work harder. Kidapawan City has been known to produce a number of Outstanding Barangay Nutrition scholars in the past, and after a couple of years being in hiatus, the city positively hopes that this time, Ms. Repollo could slay it through Nationals.
On the otherhand, winners of the National OBNS will be conferred during the National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony to be held in Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City on December 12, 2017. (Danah Pearl Aurel/NOI)
