LOS BAÑOS, LAGUNA-National Nutrition Council spearheads two batches of Training of Trainers on Local Nutrition Program Management for Nutrition Officer, UHCI-NDs and ECCD Coordinators last 12-16 March 2018 and 19-23 March 2018 held at BP International Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna which was completed by a total of 48 participants coming from the different regions, with 25 and 23 participants for 1st and 2nd batch respectively.
NNC XII’s Nutrition Officers namely NO III Flores and NO II Utlang were among the first batch, whereas NO II Aurel and NO I Laurito joined the bandwagon for the second batch.
The 5-day intensive training aimed to capacitate Nutrition Officers which were expected to add up to another pool of trainers particularly on NPM. The said training for the NNC employees were part of the PPAN 2017-2022 initiative which intends to provide comprehensive technical assistance among the LGUs of the respective regions. The said activity scoped eight modules which enlightened them on the basic concepts of food and nutrition, advancing core values and skills of nutrition workers and the integration of NPM in local governance and development system with different sets of resource persons for each batch.
Just like how the LGUs are being trained, the NOs had as well been asked to process and formulate a 3-year Local Nutrition Action Plan. Further, the training had also put emphasis on in-depth presentation of PPAN, LGU Mobilization Strategy, Local Planning Guidelines on Nutrition and Nutrition-sensitive programs.
Such effort has been made as part of the capacity development strategies of NNC to further assist the local nutrition workers and stakeholders for a more effective and efficient management of their local nutrition programs in order to improve the state of nutrition situation in all regions and of the country in general.
