Region XII rnac 2018SOCCSKSARGEN- NNC XII recognized the exemplary regional nutrition winners and implementers during the 2018 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony cum Launching of the Regional Plan of Action for Nutrition 2019-2022 held on October 25, 2018 at The Farm@Carpenter Hill, Koronadal City.
The awardees were identified through the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) and BNS evaluation done earlier this year by the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET). Local Government Units (LGUs) and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) were given recognition for their efficient and effective implementation of nutrition programs.
The event also provided an opportunity to formally launch the Regional Plan of Action for Nutrition 2019-2022 which will function as a roadmap in attempting to address and improve the nutrition situation of the region.
The awarding ceremony was graced by almost 260 guests with the presence of Hon. Ma. Theresa Constantino of Municipality of Malungon, Sarangani Province, who delivered the inspirational message being the recipient of Nutrition Honor Award.


Also in attendance were OIC-Assistant Regional Director of DOH XII, Dr. Fatima Emban, (representing DOH XII Regional Director, Dr. Aristides C. Tan), South Cotabato Vice Governor, Hon. Vicente De Jesus and Ms. Jovita Raval, Division Chief of NIED which served as the keynote speaker of the event.
Special awards such as the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner on Nutrition (CROWN) and Nutrition Honor Award, Green Banner awards, Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Committee, Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar, were some of the awards given at the ceremony.
Likewise, awardees such as Nutrition Honor Award-Municipality of Malungon, 2nd year Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner on Nutrition (CROWN)-Province of South Cotabato And Outstanding Municipality in the Region automatically declared as Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN)-Municipality of Polomolok, Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Committees in the Region-Brgy. Crossing Palkan and Cannery of Polomolok South Cotabato and Brgy. Lomuyon of Kiamba, Sarangani, Oustanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars in the Province and in the region.
Meanwhile, the ceremony also served as a venue to recognize other nutrition month winners of various activities such as the Search for Best Gulayan sa Barangay/Opisina in the region Year VI and Nutri-DOSE Komiks Making Contest.
Further, topping the rest of the “Gulayan sa Barangay” entries was Brgy. San Isidro of Midsayap, Cotabato while the Department of Trade and Industry XII consistently secured first place on its second year being adjudged as the Best Gulayan sa Opisina.
On the otherhand, Esperanza National High School bested other five (5) national high schools regionwide for the first Nutri-DOSE Komiks Making Contest which received a total cash prize of 10, 000 Php generated by the Nutri DOSE.
All awardees received plaques of recognition, tokens, cash awards and sets of garden tools given by the Department of Agriculture XII.
The event was culminated by a keynote address by Ms. Jovita B. Raval, NO V and Division Chief of NIED-NNC, highlighting that winning the nutrition award is not the end goal in itself. Further, she emphasized that the awarding ceremony is a testament that we can win against malnutrition. (DPAurel,NO II/NPC)
