The National Nutrition Council Region XII spearheaded two batches of Training on Nutrition Program Management for Nutritionist-Dietician HRH under DOH Deployment Program, Municipal and City Nutrition Action Officers and Regional Nutrition Committee Technical Working Group last September 10-14, 2018 and October 8-12, 2018 respectively at Sun City Suites, General Santos City.
The first batch was attended by a total of 24 participants among Nutritionist-Dietitian HRH under DOH Deployment Program of Cotabato Province, South Cotabato, Kidapawan City and General Santos City; Municipal Nutrition Action Officers of Cotabato Province (Midsayap, President Roxas, and Mlang) and South Cotabato (Tampakan and Norala); and City Nutrition Action Officer of General Santos City.

The second batch of the training was attended by the two members of the Regional Nutrition Committee-Technical Working Group, Ms. Evie Cabulanan of NEDA-XII and Ms. Jea Girl Malacad of DSWD-XII and was joined by Nutritionist-Dietetian HRH under DOH Deployment Program of Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, Sarangani Province, Cotabato City, Koronadal City and Tacurong City with a total of 30 participants.
The above mentioned training were composed of 8 modules which furnishes additional knowledge on food and nutrition, advancing core values and skills of nutrition workers and integrating nutrition program in local governance and development system.
Ms. Abigail A. Pabro, Nutrition Officer II of NIED-NNC, Ms. Ma. Camille Louise C. Chen, Nutrition Officer I of NIED-NNC, Ms. Maria Ana D. Uy, PNAO of South Cotabato and NAOPA President, Ms. Judith C. Janiola, Population Program Officer I of General Santos City served as resource person of the five-day training.
This training enhances the capacity of the most valuable sectors including the local nutrition workers, putting emphasis on effective planning, implementation, monitoring and sustaining nutrition programs. The training also enhances the knowledge of the participants serving as a key activity towards capacity building initiative together with the Local Government Units for nutrition improvement. This will also deepen their understanding on the basic concepts of food and nutrition as well as the integration of NPM in local governance and development system. (RALaurito-NOI/NPC)
