Last February 13, 2019, the National Nutrition Council represented by NO II Katherine Villanueva together with Mr. Francis “Kiko” Flores of MQ Mediazone Productions and NO II Danah Pearl Aurel of NNC XII conducted an orientation on the NNC Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program among the Department Heads and some members of the Sangguniang Bayan of LGU Kalamansig with their Municipal Mayor, Hon. Ronan Eugene Garcia in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat after a month of negotiation.

NO II Villanueva mainly presented the NNC’s support for the radio station which will include the Basic Broadcast Equipment, NTC Permits and Trainings and the counterpart of the partner LGU as well such as the broadcast studio, antenna tower, station personnel and station budget for its sustainability.

She also disclosed that the station in Kalamansig will be part of the six (6) stations to be put up under phase VI this year and will mark the 50th Nutriskwela Community Radio Station in the Philippines. Currently, there are 44 existing nutriskwela community radio stations nationwide which helps in empowering communities through the dissemination of correct, relevant and up-to-date nutrition and health information as well as educational and developmental information from all relevant sectors of the community, government agencies, and non-government organizations.
According to Mayor Garcia, this will give Kalamansig its first ever Radio Station - a feat never thought of and considered before. He further discussed that, this is in line with the modernization, IT program of the administration and their war against Malnutrition. He also showed to the team the proposed building and the 180 ft antenna tower for the radio station and remarked to expedite the resolution for the memorandum of agreement as he is very excited for the new partnership.

The town mayor accentuated about the three (3) most important things in governance:  building leadership, ownership and convergence. He hopes that the radio station will be a very good strategy in bringing the various sectors together which will be a good opportunity not only in the promotion of good nutrition but for the greater grounds of Kalamansig.
