KALAMANSIG, SULTAN KUDARAT- The first ever community radio station in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat had finally been realized as Nutriskwela Radyo Kadulangan 92.1 FM goes on air in the municipality after the three-day Hands-on Training for Community Radio Broadcasting held last June 10-12, 2019. The said training was attended by 35 participants from the different sectors of Kalamansig headed by Hon. Ronan Eugene Garcia, the elected Community Radio Council Chair.
The Training team was a collaboration between National Nutrition Council, represented by NO II Danah Pearl Aurel and MQ Mediazone Productions composed by prominent media personalities in the broadcast industry namely, Ms. Mackay Quadra, Managing Director of MQ Mediazone Production, Mr. Mario C. Garcia, a Senior Broadcaster/Trainer, Mr. Kiko Flores, Project Leader/DZBB GMA7 Broadcaster and Mr. Andy Vital, former DZRH Broadcaster/Trainer.
In the preliminary activity, NO II Aurel emphasized that the establishment of the nutriskwela radio station is under PPAN’s nutrition-specific banner program, which is the National Nutrition Promotion Program for Behavior Change for nutrition improvement by broadcasting nutrition and community development programs.
Kalamansig ranked second in stunting in the province of Sultan Kudarat with prevalence rate of 14.01 among 0-59 months old children in 2018, giving way for the National Nutrition Council to award the community radio station in the said municipality.
With NNC’s aims in the reduction of malnutrition, Radyo Kadulangan will as well help empower the community in improving the nutrition situation through various nutrition programs such as Radio Mo sa Nutrisyon, Katumbas ay Biyaya, One Nutrition One Nation, Nutrition School on-the-Air and other nutrition-related plugs. Other programs will be filled from the different sectors under developmental issues or concerns which will comprise the 60% nutriskwela programming as part of the guidelines.
In his message, Hon. Ronan Garcia, expressed his profound gratitude to NNC and to MQ Mediazone as this will entail the partnership’s unified goal to eradicate malnutrition and disseminate the most current, correct and relevant information not only in the fields of health and nutrition but likewise from all other sectors in the development of their community.
