Lugaw on wheels LGU TUlunanCOTABATO PROVINCE--- Following the community quarantine declaration, the situation caused by corona virus still makes accessing groceries and food supplies a challenge. The Local Nutrition Committee of Tulunan, Cotabato had taken a step to initiate “Lugaw on Wheels” to provide food ration at least once a week thru house to house distribution of arrozcaldo and champorado. The said nutrition intervention had covered three (3) of their barangays (Brgy. Bagumbyan, Brgy. La Esperanza, Brgy. Damawato) prioritizing children under five, pregnant and lactating women, senior citizens and frontliners.
Through the Lugaw on Wheels, the LNC has gone extra mile not only as a resilient measure for food access and containing the spread of COVID-19 but as well as a way of Promoting Breastfeeding and emphasizing NO MILK Donation Campaign.Further, with the IECs/slogans on their mobile, the mothers and the community as a whole will be reinforced for the importance of the advocacy.
Of course, as the country continues to grapple with this pandemic, the surge of volunteerism and bayanihan spirit among the Local Health and Nutrition Workers is also unstoppable making this intervention possible and much easier. This only shows that as Filipinos, we can always do more in uplifting one another despite this public health crisis.

Finally, NNC on the otherhand encourages the Local Government Units to continue to provide intervention strategies to improve health and nutrition as well as the effective information dissemination of good nutrition practices amidst the COVID-19 situation. (DPA/AMF/NPC)
