14 SEPTEMBER 2020-- The National Nutrition Council conducted Online Training of Regional Team of Planning Facilitators for Regions 6 and 12 via googlemeet. A total of 43 participants joined the virtual training coming from the Regional Nutrition Committee-Technical Working Group (RNC-TWG) members, NNC ROs Technical Staff together with the DOH Human Resources for Health – Nutritionist-Dietitians Deployment Program (HRH-NDDP). Facilitated by Mr. Reginaldo Guillen, NO IV of NPPD, Ms. Lalaine Carlos, NO II with Mr. Andre Flores from Alcanz International LLC, the said training will be for the planned two-day online AIP workshops as a call in “Building Pandemic Resiliency of LGUs through Investments in Nutrition in the Annual Investment Program” which will be simultaneously done from October to November 2020.
To recall, one of the principal programs included in the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2017-2022 is local government mobilization to scale up nutrition actions. This will be conducted as a follow through activity to secure the gains made for nutrition across the LGUs that have undergone the local planning and budgeting workshops in 2019.
The overall strategy to the online AIP workshops is now summarized in three stages, such as: Stage 1) Webinars/ Advocacy Meetings with LCEs, Stage 2) Technical Assistance and completion of outputs and Stage 3) Presentation of outputs. Mapping out platforms with matching strategy on the conduct of the workshop for LGU teams was also taken into consideration.
The trained participants will serve as additional trainers and facilitators in providing effective technical assistance (TA) to the LGU teams in the completion of their 2021 Annual Investment Program with strong integration of nutrition during the upcoming Online AIP Workshops.
While everyone is addressing to the urgent and unprecedented pandemic brought by COVID-19, it is also critical that measures should be continuously taken to ensure and protect good nutrition. (DPA/AMF/NPC)
