Amas, Kidapawan City- National Nutrition Council XII (NNC) seeks support from the Provincial Government of Cotabato on the implementation of Tutok Kainan supplementation Program.
In a meeting on February 1, 2021 at Provincial Capitol, Amas Kidapawan, NNC XII Staff headed by Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ms. Arceli M. Latonio convened together with Hon. Governor Nancy A. Catamco, Chairperson of Provincial Nutrition Committee and Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Ely Nebrija to discuss the Tutok Kainan Program to be implemented in Cotabato Province.
The Tutok Kainan is a 180- day dietary supplementation for identified 6-23 months old children as a strategy to prevent stunting and to provide the platform for educating mothers on desirable complementary feeding practices. The program will be spearheaded by the National Nutrition Council in partnership with the Local Government Unit.
Further, Governor Catamco recognizes the need to intensify nutrition services among Cotabateños gearing towards an improved health. During the meeting, the governor is looking forward for the program to benefit more indigent and undernourished children. Thus, together with PNAO Nebrija and Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Rabaya, the PLGU of Cotabato commits support on the Tutok Kainan Program by exploring possibilities of providing financial support to barangay volunteers as lead implementor in the community. The province also committed to assist in the coordination and monitoring of program together with PNC Rentosa.
RNPC Latonio assured that despite NNC being a first timer in implementing the said program with such magnitude, the council is committed to deliver and achieve the objectives of the program. (PNC Rentoza/NO III Flores)
