With South Cotabato as one of the target areas of the launched Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program, 11 local government units (LGUs) of the province and General Santos City are to participate in the program. In the said area, target beneficiaries are stunted and wasted 6-23 months old children from different barangays.
Since the past month, the National Nutrition Council Region XII and South Cotabato Tutok Kainan Focal Person PNC Kristine Charl Nadela consistently coordinates with different LGUs from the province to schedule orientations and coordination meetings with the municipality/city nutrition committee (M/CNC) members and relevant LGU staff and to firm up plans for the program.
From February 16 to 24 2021, orientation and initial coordination in municipalities of Tampakan, Tupi, Tantangan, Polomolok, Lake Sebu, Sto. Niño, Norala, Banga, and cities of Koronadal and General Santos were made. Attendees of the events varied including (M/CNC) members, LGU staff, barangay officials and barangay nutrition scholars.
Tutok Kainan Supplementation aims to help prevent stunting among 6-23 months old children through complementary feeding and integration of Early Childhood Care and Development - First 1000 Days Services Program.
As the program implementation is fast approaching, the NNC regional office, especially the Tutok Kainan Focal Person continuously communicates with the different municipalities and cities in South Cotabato to ensure proper and efficient coordination with regards to logistics and implementation of the program.
