August 17-18, 2021 – The National Nutrition Council XII through the Regional Mobilization Team which was created to ensure quality nutrition program implementation for the improvement and sustainability of the health and nutrition status of LGUs, provided technical assistance in LGU Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat in polishing their Municipal Nutrition Action Plan for 2022-2024. The two-day Local Nutrition Action Planning workshop was attended by the members of their Local Nutrition Committee from MSWDO, MBO, MPDC, and Nutrition Office.

During the workshop, members of the committee reviewed the programs under the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2017-2022. They were also informed on the purpose of LGU mobilization, which is to call for various sets of actions that will reinforce each other to transform the targeted provinces, cities and municipalities, and to have well-performing LGUs in the field of Nutrition Program. The committee also learned the importance of investing in nutrition along with the policies supporting the scaling up of nutrition in the Philippines. The session included discussion on Nutrition Program Management and Plan Preparation for LNAP formulation.

Furthermore, the LNC members of LGU Lambayong identified potential nutrition problems and needs of a specific population group in their locality to come up with appropriate situational analysis, outcome targets, workplan to implement programs, projects and activities, and budgetary requirements estimates. LGU Lambayong hopes that the prepared nutrition action plan will be approved to improve their nutrition situation.(NOILaurito/OIC-NPCFlores)
