National Nutrition Council XII held its 2nd Regional Barangay Nutrition Scholar Federation XII Inc. meeting via zoom videoconference and face-to-face at Cinco Niñas, Koronadal City last September 14, 2021. A total of 8 BNS officers attended the meeting, 3 via zoom videoconference and 5 are face to face.
During the meeting, matters discussed were the following: application of BNS for CSC eligibility, updates on BNS medical and survivorship assistance, updates and status of BNS annual dues, updates on Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program, status of BNS traveling allowance, BNS hygiene kits allocation and issuance of BNS Identification Card.
NNC XII has invited Ms. Marilou Lanoy, City Nutrition Program Coordinator (CNPC) of LGU Koronadal City to share tips and experiences in getting the Barangay Nutrition Scholar Eligibility (BNSE). CNPC Lanoy is the first BNS in Region XII who received BNSE from CSC. The BNSE is granted to barangay-based volunteer workers for rendering at least two (2) years of continuous and satisfactory nutrition services and other related activities, such as community health, backyard food production, environmental sanitation, culture, mental feeding, and family planning to the barangay.
Furthermore, the BNS officers were reminded of the requirements for BNS assistance submission and should be filed within 6 months of the event. The status of BNS annual dues was also presented and the body noticed that some LGUs are not paying religiously. As agreed, BNS Officers were tasked to review the BNS annual dues starting from 2013 and to remind fellow BNSs to pay continuously to be able to avail BNS benefits and privileges. For the deadline of the masterlist revision for Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program, PNFPs on the four provinces set their final schedule which is on September 24, 2021.
Moreover, upon submission of the BNS proposal and liquidation report of the LGUs, NNC will provide BNS traveling allowance every year. LGUs who already received their BNS TA were presented as well as the LGUs with no submission. The body was reminded to submit documents needed as early as possible.
In addition, for this year NNC will allocate BNS hygiene kits (Eco bag, washable facemasks, face shield and alcohol or hand sanitizers) and will issue BNS identification cards. Requirements for the issuance of BNS ID were presented and the deadline for submission is on or before October 15, 2021.
NNC XII will continue to coordinate BNS officers for the agreements made and will facilitate the submission of required documents. NNC XII hopes that the meeting will bring out improvement and success of the Regional BNS Federation. (NOILaurito/OIC-NPCFlores)
