The National Nutrition Council XII visited more LGUs for the month of October to provide technical assistance in formulating their three-year Municipal Nutrition Action Plans.
Last October 7-8, NOII Aurel and NOI Laurito facilitated the 2-day LNAP Formulation Workshop in Pikit, Cotabato attended by their MNAO and selected MNC members from Budget Office, Planning Office, MSWD Office, and BNS Federation President. The LGU is expected to provide NNC their 2022 nutrition budget, as well as to submit their MNAP 2022-2024. The LGU will also reactivate and/or reorganize their Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) and conduct regular quarterly meetings. Members of the Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) of LGU Pikit were also informed about the implementation of the Executive Order (EO) No. 138 dated June 2, 2021. The Municipal Budget Officer of LGU Pikit committed to present the NNC proposal on strengthening Nutrition Program at the LGU level.
The Local Government Unit of Senator Ninoy Aquino of Sultan Kudarat was visited last October 12, 2021. NO II Leah Utlang and PNFP Kristine Lorraine Madayag served as Resource Persons in the conduct of technical assistance cum investing in nutrition. The one-day activity was attended by the MNC members from the offices of Municipal Health, Municipal Social Welfare Development, Municipal Link, and Municipal Agriculture. LGU SNA is set to create Nutrition Office with complementary staff, also to reactivate their MNC, issue MNC Resolution on MNC re-activation, formulate their MNAP, issue MNC resolution approving the MNAP and an SB resolution on the adoption of MNAP.
NO II Aurel and NOI Laurito served as Resource Persons in facilitating the conduct of technical assistance cum investing in nutrition to LGU Carmen, Cotabato last October 19 and LGU Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat last October 20, 2021. The one-day activity in LGU Carmen was attended by 9 participants from the following offices: Municipal Health, Nutrition, Planning, Budget, MSWDO, Agriculture, and MLGO. Five (5) participants from the following offices: Municipal Health, Nutrition, Planning, Budget, and Agriculture join the above activity in the Municipality of Lutayan. The next steps for the two LGUs were to reactivate their Municipal Nutrition Committees, revisit roles and functions of MNC members and policy issuance for re-activation of MNC, MNC members to convene for the finalization of the 3 year MNAP and to secure issuance of a resolution approving the adoption of their MNAP.
The last LGU to be visited by the RMOB team is LGU Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat on October 27-28, 2021. NNC XII hopes for positive nutrition outcomes and quality nutrition program implementation of the following LGUs with the technical assistance provided. (NOILaurito/OIC-NPCFlores)
