LAMBAYONG, SULTAN KUDARAT- In partnership with the National Nutrition Council XII, LGU Lambayong conducted Nutrition Program Management Training with MELLPI Pro Orientation among selected Municipal Nutrition Committee members last October 11-13, 2021 held at the Office of the Vice Mayor, Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat. The participants came from the different offices to wit: Planning, Budget, MSWDO, Agriculture, Health and ABC representative (Secretary).

The training sought to empower and equip members of the Municipal Nutrition Committee to focus on effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and sustainability of nutrition programs, as well as methods for closing the gap in terms of malnutrition eradication.

The following were the topics covered throughout the training: Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition and Investing in Nutrition, Describing Malnutrition:Its Forms, Causes and Consequences, Identifying Core Values of Nutrition Workers, Situating Nutrition Program Management in the Local Development System, Organizing or revitalizing Local Nutrition Committees, Enumerating Phases, Steps and activities involved In Nutrition Program Management, Assessing the Nutrition Situation and Setting Goals and Objectives, Identification and Prioritization of Interventions, Formulating the work plan, Designing a monitoring and Evaluation Plan, Financing and Packaging the Local Nutrition Action Plan and MELLPI Pro for LGU and LNFP.

As part of their output and processing, the participants were also requested to provide their draft causal model and workplan.   Meanwhile, the LGU has been given ample time to draft its Municipal Nutrition Action Plan 2022-2024 and provide a copy to NNC XII once it is finalized.

This endeavor has been done as part of LGU Lambayong's capacity building plans to help their local nutrition workers implement their local nutrition programs more effectively and efficiently in order to improve the state of their nutrition situation. (NOII Aurel/OIC-NPC Flores)
