NNC SOCCSKSARGEN successfully conducted the 2021 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony last December 9, 2021, at The Farm @ Carpenter Hill, Koronadal City, South Cotabato through face to face and was streamed via Zoom Videoconference and Facebook Live.

The awarding ceremony recognized outstanding Local Government Units, Outstanding Local Nutrition Workers, and Barangay Nutrition Scholars with exemplary performance in the implementation, management, coordination of the local nutrition programs and recognized as well the Regional and Local Nutrition Stakeholders in promoting good nutrition and supporting the regional nutrition efforts.

Among the awards given is the White Heron Award to Local Government Units that signifies determination in its efforts to reduce malnutrition rates and has contributed to the highest percent change reduction in the prevalence of stunting and wasting among children aged 0–59 months from 2019–2021 through the efficient and effective implementation of the nutrition program.

LGUs given with White Heron Award for their nutrition efforts which resulted in the reduction of stunting prevalence were South Cotabato Province, Kidapawan City, and Sto. Niño, South Cotabato. On the other hand, Sarangani Province, Kidapawan City, and Kiamba, Sarangani were among the LGUs with the highest percent change reduction in wasting.

NNC XII highly praised the LGU awardees for their contribution in the improvement of their nutrition situation particularly on stunting and wasting among preschool children 0-59 months old. Just as the White Herons align in the realm of nutrition, we are bound to wade through marshes and ponds, referring to the various hurdles in life's journey but we must never give up.
