REGIONAL NUTRITION CLUSTER EMERGENCY MEETING program

SOCCSKSARGEN—The Regional Nutrition Cluster of SOCCSKSARGEN convened for an emergency meeting via Zoom Videoconference held on December 28, 2021.   Attended by 21 representatives from various agencies (NNC, DOH, DILG, DSWD, DBM, DOST, DOLE, NCIP, DENR, Save the Children, PopCom and OCD), the meeting was conducted to discuss response efforts in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette's damage. Typhoon Odette wreaked havoc on the Philippine Archipelago last December 16, 2021, particularly in Regions 4B, VI, VII, VIII, X, and CARAGA.

 

Post-status updates on the impact of typhoon particularly in CARAGA Region was discussed by Mr. Jerome Barranco from the Office of Civil Defense RO XII.   DSWD FO XII represented by Ms. Naira Aratuc also presented the updates from the Camp Management and Food & Non-food Cluster. Other topics discussed were the Nutrition Cluster Functions by NO II Leah Fe Utlang and Minimum Service Package by NO III Annalita Mae Flores. Plans for Deployment was facilitated by  RNPC Retsebeth Laquihon and Ms. Jessen Masukat of DOH XII.

The team is set to be deployed on January 3-17, 2022 in the Municipality of Dinagat, Province of Dinagat Islands, one of the typhoon-affected and priority areas in CARAGA Region. Expected services to be provided as part of the minimum service package for Nutrition in Emergencies include: Infant and Young Child Feeding Protection, Promotion and Support, Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition, Micronutrient Supplementation and Other Food and Non-food Interventions.

Meanwhile, the Regional Nutrition Cluster will also conduct orientation and briefing on December 31, 2021 at 9am for the details of the said deployment. (NO IIAurel/NOIIIFlores/RNPC)
