SOCCSKSARGEN---Spearheaded by the National Nutrition Council Region XII, the Association of the Regional Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs) of SOCCSKSARGEN held its Regional Conference on 12th of January 2022 via Zoom Videoconference.
Attended by around 30 NAOs and representatives from the different LGUs in the region, the Regional Conference served as a contributory activity to the LGU Mobilization strategy of the PPAN 2017-2022 by empowering and equipping NAOS with knowledge and skills on nutrition programs and projects. The activity will provide the NAOs on the latest nutrition updates such as policies, guidelines, programs, projects and upcoming activities of NNC for 2022. Among the matters discussed were the following: Highlights of 2022 Regional Activities, Strengthening of LGU’s Nutrition Program, Overview of the Shepherding Project, Overview of the LGU Mobilization, Review on MELLPI Pro, CY 2021 Regional Nutrition situation and Review of EOPT and MUAC assessment, Status of 2021 LNC Functionality, Review of Nutrition Cluster, Social Media Promotion Activities and Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program Updates.
RNPC Retsebeth Laquihon recognized how integral the Local Nutrition Focal Points’ roles are, especially the NAOs who will oversee the coordination of the implementation of the PPAN programs and provide technical backstopping of local nutrition programs. She also expressed that the conference will hopefully be an avenue to keep the LNFPs updated, guided and so as for the closer engagement and collaboration in line with the operationalization of the Regional Nutrition Action Plan.
