National Nutrition Council (NNC) XII holds virtual orientation among Human Resource for Health (HRH) - Nutritionist Dietitians (NDs) last March 16, 2022, via Zoom teleconference. The said activity was attended by Ms. Jessen Masukat of Department of Health (DOH) XII and 11 HRH-NDs deployed regionwide.
RNPC Laquihon in her opening message emphasizes that the virtual meeting serves as an orientation on PPAN 2017-2022 Operationalization and Convergence of Nutrition Efforts among the identified Nutritionist-Dietitians of the ND-Deployment Program in the region. Further, the following topics were given emphasis during the said orientation.
- Roles/Functions of HRH-NDDPs based on their contract
- Overview of NNC and NPM, LNC Functionality and Roles of NAOs
- Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2017-2022
- 2021 Regional Nutrition Situation (RNS), Operation Timbang (OPT) findings
- Barangay Nutrition Action Plan (BNAP) and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) concerns
- First 1000 Days (F1KD) – Dietary Supplementation Program - Tutok Kainan (DSPTK) and reporting system through Field Health Services Information System (FHSIS)
This endeavor shall equip HRH-NDDPs with basic skills and knowledge on the local nutrition structures and management of the local nutrition programs through nutrition screening and assessment, nutrition program planning, management, implementation, and monitoring as well as nutrition information and reporting system that will lead to harmonization and intensification of local nutrition efforts toward efficient and effective implementation of the nutrition programs particularly specific health and nutrition interventions in PPAN which includes Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), Philippine Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (PIMAM), Micronutrient Supplementation Program (MSP), Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE), among others.
NNC XII’s engagement with the HRD-NDs will now become a regular activity through virtual meetings to provide nutrition updates to keep them up with the current trends on nutrition and will serve as an avenue to discuss local issues and concerns pertaining to Nutrition Program implementation and its related activities. NNC XII is looking forward for a strengthened coordination and collaboration for advancing the nutrition agenda across all levels and enhancing the capacity of nutrition stakeholders, particularly among HRH-NDs.
The activity is part of the NNC XII’s initiative to establish strong collaboration for nutrition, particularly at the regional and local levels, by providing orientation and capacity building to the nutrition stakeholders to better understand the nutrition structure, coordination, collaboration, monitoring and evaluation, database management and reporting system in the implementation and management of nutrition programs.
