The National Nutrition Council (NNC) XII held a virtual orientation on the 2022 updated version of Monitoring and Evaluation on Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro tools via zoom teleconference on June 17. A total of 27 Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFPs) and Nutrition Evaluation Team (NET) members region-wide attended the said activity.
The virtual orientation serves as an avenue to provide updates on the 2022 MELLPI Pro guidelines and tools, to prepare and guide the participants in administering the upcoming MELLPI Pro and discuss the proposed timetable for the regional MELLPI Pro activity.
The MELLPI Pro is designed to monitor and evaluate the performance of Local Government Units (LGUs) in promoting nutrition security vis-à-vis nutrition outcomes, as well as the performance of Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFPs) as frontline nutrition staff in carrying out their core functions in line with delivering nutrition services in the locality. The results of the MELLPI Pro aims to guide policy and decision-makers to enhance nutrition services and delivery systems towards improved effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability.
RNPC Laquihon encourages all LGUs in SOCCSKSARGEN to conduct and administer the MELLPI Pro activity in order to assess the status or progress of the implementation of the local nutrition program, determine areas for improvement and provide appropriate technical assistance, and identify local innovations and best practices that can be replicated in other areas, as well as serve as an avenue to lobby support from the Local Chief Executives (LCEs) and Local Nutrition Committee (LNC).
She added that monitoring and evaluation will be a mandatory activity since it is an integral part of nutrition program management. Further, she requested the participants’ support for the MELLPI Pro activity, which will urge everyone to take action to fight malnutrition. (NOII Utlang/NOIII Flores/ RNPC Laquihon
