LGU Makilala celebrates the 48th Nutrition Month Culmination Program and Launching of NNC Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program and DSWD Supplementary Feeding Program on July 29.
Present during the program were: DOH XII Development Management Officer, Ms. Mercy Salamida; DepEd Supervisors; Representative from Gawad Kalinga, Mr. Ariel Beirin; Don Bosco Corporation representatives; Chief Dietitian of Midway Hospital; Municipal Administrator, Ms. Katherine Dela Cruz, RN; Municipal Councilor on Health Committee, Hon. Donna Vianry Dela Cruz; LGU Makilala Head of Offices; Barangay Councilors; Barangay Nutrition Scholars; and representatives of the National Nutrition Council Region XII, Development Management Officers Marie Jane Lihao for Cotabato Province and Ruby Ann Laurito for Sultan Kudarat Province.
DMO II Laurito, on her keynote message highlighted the importance of multi-sectoral engagements, strengthened leadership and good governance as approach to the new normal way of combatting malnutrition. The 2021 Regional Nutrition Situation was also discussed and commended LGU Makilala's efforts in taking deliberate steps to help improve the nutritional status of vulnerable groups, particularly children aged 0-59 months.
DMO II Lihao, talk about the guidelines for the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program. This includes the level of supplementation each target group receives daily. For Phases 2 and 3, LGU Makilala has a total of 118 and 83 beneficiaries, respectively.
The LGU Makilala's nutrition program is fully supported by the Office of the Municipal Administrator and backed up by the Municipal Councilor on Health Committee, who also pledged to draft and pass resolutions and ordinances to support nutrition. (DMOIILaurito/NOIIIFlores/RNPCLaquihon)
