SOCCSKSARGEN--- The National Nutrition Council (NNC) XII, in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) XII, held a press conference for the 2022 Nutrition Month Celebration following the Nutrition Month Launch on the first of July.

The press conference was held at Greenstate Suites, Koronadal City attended by various media personalities, partners and NNC XII’s information arm, NUTRI-DOSE (Nutrition in Development Organization of Social Educators (Nutri-Dose), SOCCSKSARGEN).

Ms. Aida Agad, Information Officer III of PIA XII, served as the moderator of the event. The panelists were NNC XII ‘s Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Ms. Retsebeth Laquihon, City Nutrition Action Officer of Koronadal City, Ms. Nancy Adalin and Save the Children’s Head of Office, Ms. Ivy Caballes.

RNPC Laquihon discussed the current regional nutrition situation, which affects approximately 27,000 stunted children aged 0 to 59 months. She then emphasized the significance of critical interventions in the first 1000 days of life.

CNAO Adalin also detailed the interventions implemented by their Local Government Unit to combat and address malnutrition at their level. Ms. Caballes, on the other hand, emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between government and non-governmental organizations. She went on to say that working together to improve health and nutrition services for children in our region should be our top priority.

RNPC Laquihon concluded the press conference by thanking everyone for their active participation and contributions. Laquihon calls for enhanced collaboration and partnership in the dissemination of good nutrition in order to improve the region's nutrition situation. (NO III Flores/RNPC)
