As part of the 48th Nutrition Month Celebration, the Local Government Unit of Midsayap through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office - Nutrition Section conducted the Talakayan Series: Usapang Buntis to the top 5 Barangays with the highest number of pregnant women namely: Lower Katingawan, Nalin, Poblacion 3, Anonang and Arizona. A total of 139 pregnant women took part in the activity.
The activity also offered free health services to all pregnant women like a dental check-up and dental care tips, laboratory examination (hemoglobin determination, blood typing, and urinalysis), and free eye checkups for the 1st trimester & 2nd trimester.
Rovelyn Joy Hernandez, Barangay Health Aide, and Erlinda Rivera, Population Field Officer emphasized the importance of safe motherhood and the significance of family planning.
The Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) Neren C. Villareal discussed relevant topics on proper nutrition for pregnancy and lactation and the importance of the First 1000 Days of life, she emphasized that a mother's lifestyle and emotional state during pregnancy have an impact on both her wellbeing and the growth and nourishment of her developing fetus therefore nutritious diet and good care for all mothers during pregnancy is a must.
