August 19, 2022 - Governor Rogelio "Ruel" Pacquiao of Sarangani Province expressed his commitment and support to collaborating with the 7 municipalities of the Province through its Local Chief Executives to end malnutrition that affects children and pregnant women by addressing the causes of malnutrition, particularly on food insecurity.
During the Accelerated Executive Session for Governor and Mayor's engagement organized by Zuellig Family Foundation led by Former DILG Usec. Austere Panadero, ZFF Executive Director, last August 19, 2022, at Acacia Hotel, Davao City, the local leaders were actively engaged through the open forum and discussion using the leadership framework by ZFF to understand the current nutrition situation and identify strategies to resolve the malnutrition problem through improving the province's health and nutrition system.
The activity also serves as a venue to align directions in nutrition programs, projects and activities with mutual perspective and vision anchored on nutrition in the first 1000 days of life. The said activity were participated by PNAO Dr. Arvin Alejandro, DOH 12 Director Dr. Aristides Concepcion Tan, Philhealth Regional Vice President Dr. Hector Zenon Malate, RNPC Retsebeth Laquihon and the Provincial Administrator Atty. Ryan Ramos, Executive Assistant to the Governor Atty. Stephany Velasco-Datig, among others. RNPC Laquihon delivered her Message of Support reiteraring the need for collaboration and convergence of efforts in solving the multi factorial causes of malnutrition and strengthen the implementation of a multi-dimensional and multi-sectoral approach and nutrition strategies. Further she also added the importance of building an expanded network and strengthening the structure for nutrition with adequate manpower manned by a Nutrition Action Officer. She also emphasized the importance of nutrition planning by integrating nutrition PPAs to sectoral development and investment plans.
The engaging activity between Governor Pacquiao and the respective Mayors concluded through a ceremonial signing of the Commitment Wall highlighting the Governor's vision of zero malnutrition in the Province of Sarangani by 2025.(RNPCRML)
